We are a tourism company, but in our hearts, we are all about conservation. We offer genuine wilderness experiences with integrity, while promoting the preservation of fish and wildlife in these amazingly rich ecologies. Our responsible and sustainable management approach protects the environment and increases economic opportunities. Our camps are designed to have the smallest ecological footprint as possible, creating an unspoiled natural atmosphere while providing some of the comforts of home. We actively promote the integration of local people into our programs and combine the knowledge and spiritual values of indigenous people with whom we are partners and whose land we operate on. WILDLIFE VIEWING TRIPS
Grizzly Bears
We have a reputation for placing bears and people close together. We do this in a safe and respectful manner where the bear always decides the distance. Those bears that do not feel comfortable close to people always have the option to remain at the distance they choose.
Grizzlies of the Taku
You will see grizzly bears and bald eagles. You will also have the opportunity to see wolves, wolverine, lynx, pine marten, river otter and beaver. Other than bald eagles, you can see merganser ducks, american dippers, rufus hummingbirds, belted kingfishers, ruffed grouse and woodpeckers.
PHOTOGRAPHY
No, while some of our guests are photographers (amateur and professionals), many guests just bring point-and-click or even smart phone cameras. You will have close, engaging and surely unforgettable experiences! To capture them depends on you!
Our guests bring everything from a point and shoot to a 600 mm lens. We generally recommend bringing along a wide angle lens to try and capture the grandeur of the landscapes, a mid-range zoom lens (70-200mm) and a super tele lens (from 300mm onwards with teleconverters). However, each trip has its own photographic characteristics and requirements. Please feel free to contact us in advance for more specific information on camera equipment for your selected trip.
On some of our trips you have the chance to photograph Northern Lights. A tripod for long exposure photography and extra batteries will get you the shot you want. If you are planning to photograph wildlife with a long and heavy super tele lens a tripod might make the work easier.
ACCOMMODATIONS
If you have any dietary considerations, please let us know in advance and we will make sure our chef makes the necessary adjustments within the menu.
On all of our helicopter camp trips, there is no mobile phone and WIFI reception due to the remote trip location. Our camp managers communicate from our remote locations using Iridium satellite telephones and text messaging. These tools can be made available to you in the event of an emergency.
Yes, we supply power via a gas-powered generator. The generator is running during specific times of the day which will allow you to charge your devices and batteries at our designated charging stations.
TRANSPORT
We request guests to limit their personal baggage to 35 kilograms or 70 pounds.
We use a 15 passenger van for road transportation and helicopters to access our remote camps.

TRAVELLING WITH NAKINA ADVENTURES
Nakina Adventures does not carry health, life, property, injury, evacuation or any other type of insurance for guests. We encourage you to ensure your medical insurance covers you for life and health care risks while on our adventure/expedition trips, and in addition should provide for sufficient emergency evacuation coverage.
In the event of a medical emergency where a patient must receive care of a doctor as soon as possible, almost all of our trips will require a helicopter to complete the evacuation. Depending on the trip location and where the closest hospital is located, the expense could be very costly. Please check with your insurance provider to ensure you are covered for the location you are visiting. Nakina Adventures is not responsible for any expenses incurred for medical reasons.
In light of our cancellation policy and the wilderness environment in which we operate, we highly recommended that our guests purchase trip and trip interruption insurance. Nakina Adventures will not be held responsible for trip delays, cancellations or interruptions due to unforeseeable circumstances. Any additional costs accrued will be the responsibility of the guests.
All of our trips require a certain level of mobility to get around – some more, some less. To take part in our adventures you should be able to walk on groomed trails and some uneven ground. Bathroom facilities in our remote camps are set aside from your private cabin so you must be able to make your way to the short distance to this building unattended, or with the help of a travelling companion. We can accommodate those in a wheelchair or requiring some personalized assistance during the trip. If you have any concerns about your mobility level, we are happy to discuss the best trip option for you from our portfolio.
We organize wildlife adventures of the beaten trail in untamed wilderness areas and spend months preparing and continuously make non-refundable payments to suppliers and staff. Therefore, we must strictly adhere to our Cancellation & Refund Policies for all travelers. These policies can be found in our Terms and Conditions on our website here.
The cost of delays is not included. If any trip must be delayed due to bad weather, transportation delays, government intervention, sickness or other contingency for which Nakina Adventures cannot make provision, the trip start and end dates will not be extended. Guests are not entitled to a credit or refund should the trip be of a shorter duration than planned as a result of late arrival, regardless of whether late arrival is caused by airplane mechanical problems, weather, acts of God or any other reason that prevents guests from arriving on the trip’s scheduled start date. All travel to and from the trip starting point is the sole responsibility of the guest. Nakina Adventures is not responsible for missed flights due to international flight delays, missed connection or any other reasons. Should additional expenses from such events incur (mainly additional transportation costs to bring guests to their adventure/expedition location), guests will have to cover those costs.
CANCELLATION BY NAKINA ADVENTURES BEFORE THE TRIP HAS STARTED
Nakina Adventures reserves the right to cancel any trip prior to the scheduled departure due to special environmental circumstances, severe logistical issues, etc. In the event of a cancellation by Nakina Adventures before departure, guests may transfer to another trip if available or request a full refund of all payments. In no event shall our liability exceed the obligation to refund the amount paid to Nakina Adventures. Nakina Adventures is not responsible for expenses incurred by trip participants in preparation for the trip (e.g. non-refundable air tickets, visa fees, equipment etc.).
CANCELLATION BY NAKINA ADVENTURES AFTER THE TRIP HAS STARTED
The trip is deemed to have started with the departure of the aircraft to your destination. Nakina Adventures reserves the right to suspend or end a trip early for whatever reason, including but not limited to medical emergencies, deteriorating severe weather conditions, or other unsafe environmental conditions. In these situations, Nakina Adventures will be seen to have delivered the agreed upon services and that cancellation is due to circumstances beyond Nakina Adventures control. No refunds will be given for any reason. Nakina Adventures will help guests in changing their travel arrangements and provide letters for all guests to submit to their travel insurance providers.
Please keep in mind that both cases are highly unlikely but remember that this is wilderness adventure travel and even the best-laid plans can be interrupted by unforeseeable events or circumstances.
Yes. Despite all our extensive safety efforts we do acknowledge the potential risks and dangers inherent to fishing along a flowing watercourse / wildlife viewing and being in a remote wilderness area. We therefore require guests to be aware and acknowledge these by signing a release of claims and waiver of liability. The signing of the release of claims and waiver of liability is obligatory for all guests and signing must take place in the guest’s country and place of residence prior to departing on their trip with Nakina Adventures.
